- RMM 2008/12/23: plot files from the project are removed before the copy.
RMM 2007/09/05: Big projects will be written without .fits files:
- When the program cdwProj.py checks the disk space of the project, if it is bigger than one DVD, then it will move the .fits files outside the project home directory. This will reduce the amount of data to be written. In this case the operator have to write only the copy for the astronomer. The program itself sends an email to the computer group, who will write the copy for IRAM on tape, after restoring the .fits files. This case is now reflected in the snapshot of the program output showed below.
RMM 2007/09/04: Trying to write a DVD 16x/1x at "Auto" speed didn't work!. Though the k3b program said "sucess" the project was written only partially. Should the tests done at 2007/04/04 be repeated? - BackupProjectsDevicesTests -
RMM 2007/04/26: We have some USB disks available to deliver big projects to visitors (instead of burning a lot of DVDs). Please, at the moment, ask computer group.
RMM 2007/04/09: Latest tests on several DVD writers (see BackupProjectsDevicesTests) show that we can use any DVD media (16x or 1x) at "Auto" speed, without problems!!
RMM 2006/10/10: Use only DVD media 1x or 8x compatible!!
- In the past weeks we have experienced problems writing projects on DVD (the DVD was written only partially, or the writer proccess didn't start at all, giving an error...) We were using DVD media 16x compatible. When I started using (again) DVD media 1x or 8x compatible, the problem has disappeared!)
Command to print the log of saved projects:
Use cdwProjPrint.py, on mrt-lx3 under root, to be asked if you want to include a project in the list of saved projects, and if you want to print this list.
How to write projects to CD/DVD
The utility to write CDs/DVDs for project data is cdwProj.py that can be run on mrt-lx3 as user root.
The program creates the images .iso on disk for the project, but then you have to burn the CD/DVD(s) yourself by using the utility k3b, which is also called from the main program after asking you for the DISPLAY.
